Meet Oral Surgeon Dr. Ranschaert

Dr. Mark E. Ranschaert, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, attended the University of Louisville where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. His Doctorate of Dental Medicine was earned from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1999. Upon graduation, Dr. Ranschaert volunteered for active duty in the United State Army. During his military service, Dr. Ranschaert completed a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and completed the four year surgical residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Dr. Ranschaert was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During this tour of duty, he was named the Theater Consultant for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for all of Multi-National Forces in Iraq. Dr. Ranschaert’s primary responsibilities was providing surgical treatment for multiple wounds to the face and neck from explosives and gunshots.

After his return to Fort Hood, Texas, he was appointed Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.

On November 5, 2009, Dr. Ranschaert was among the first responders to provide emergency surgical care to the critically wounded of the mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas. He was nationally recognized by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons for his lifesaving actions during this tragedy.

As a decorated Lieutenant Colonel and years of selfless service to his country, Dr. Ranschaert decided to center his devotion in providing premier care to North Texas. North Texas is where he first met his wife.

Dr. Ranschaert is Board Certified by both the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is also a fellow of the both the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the North Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Ranschaert maintains staff privileges at Rockwall and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Plano.

Dr. Ranschaert participates in many community outreach programs, such as, “Dentistry From the Heart” and “We Serve”. He also is an active volunteer with the Texas Parks and Wildlife in Hunters Safety Education Programs for the youth of Texas. Spending quality time with his wife, Misty, and son, Rockefeller, is a very important priority in his daily life. Together, they enjoy attending Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys games. Hunting and fishing are hobbies that are enjoyed by Dr. Ranschaert.
